Mum - Marion Crane - passed away on Friday 28th June 2013, a day after her 80th birthday.

She had been suffering with Lewy Bodies dementia and mild Parkinsons for a few years now and being cared for at home by Dad. In January, she fell and broke her hip. She was admitted to Princess of Wales hospital in Bridgend. The operation was a success but it left her very frail.

Dad has been travelling from home to the hospital every day - twice at weekends - making in excess of 220 return journeys. That's nearly 3,100 miles!

In February & March, Dad & I were visiting nursing homes as she could no longer be looked after at home by Dad alone. However, the move from hospital to a suitable home kept being delayed as Mum improved then declined during her stay in the hospital.

She was finally due to be moved on Wednesday 19th June but developed Pneumonia on Monday 17th so that was shelved. She became very weak and the doctors suggested she may not survive the night!

Peter & Brian both drove to the hospital and spent the night with her. Thankfully, she pulled through and brightened up a lot!

Sadly, a week later, she deteriorated again but tragically, this time, she didn't recover.
