Today saw my last link with Camden council broken - I moved my bike from the garage I have been renting from them for the past few years. Fortunately, even though I left Camden back in December, Camden's right-hand hadn't caught up with the left-hand and thus I was still able to keep the garage until I could get to London to collect my bike.
Today, I collected my bike gear from Alan (thanks matey) & finally, at 14:59, rode out of the garage heading for the Southampton area.
Although I enabled the alarm by opening the front gates to the garage, I didn't lock the garage door.
Last week, I had noticed that I was about £30.00 in credit with the council over the garage so I cancelled this months standing order. This means that the money will run out in the last week of March.
I had already received a letter from the council instructing me to provide them with the insurance & MOT details of the bike as that was part of their terms & conditions of renting the garages. I have always resented this as I don't believe they should be entitled to it but had to conform otherwise I would have been evicted from the garages. I had delayed this by telling them I was currently working away from London and would provide the information on my return.
I have also received notification that the weekly rental amount was to increase from the 6th April.
Now I can sit back & wait for the threatening letters to arrive (all letters from Camden contain threats).
Firstly, the alarm bells will sound when my rent falls one week behind in payment.
Then, the fact I haven't provided these unelected, overpaid bureaucrats with the insurance & MOT details will solicit a further threat that they will be repossessing the garage.
I'm looking forward to receiving these just so I can ignore them!
