Today sees my final day as shopkeeper in Strand Street.
It has been nearly 3 weeks since I first arrived to open the shop on my own as Bruno & Lynda buggered off on a cruise in the sun and left us to the wet and snowy Isle of Man. Their only complaint was that one day it reached 39 °! Shame. If they're looking for sympathy, we all know where that is!
It has been an interesting time and I now know the difference between a ¾" Gilt and a 1" antique (well, I probably don't but it sounds good.)
It is now time to close up and head, for the last time, to the Archie in Onchan for our debrief to catch up on what has happened during our two shifts.
I'm not saying I was pleased to be 'free' again but even Angela who works in the pub commented on how pleased and relieved I looked tonight!
I can now look forward to being able to ignore the alarm and whatever the weather is doing outside and just go back to sleep if I want to although I have to say that the most restrictive thing I found was having to go to bed early so I could get up at a reasonable time! I have become used to being able to stay up until the early hours whether it be to watch TV or to write programs.
