After all this time, I have finally joined the gaming community by buying an Xbox 360.
I first thought about it when I was visiting Garry in Skelmersdale last year. He had a great set up on his HD TV, surround-sound system and wireless Xbox connecting his computer media to the TV & sound system.
Of course, at that time, I only had a 11" portable TV so it seemed a bit of a waste to buy any game console be it an Xbox, Wii or Play Station. As I went mad at Christmas and bought both an extreemely large TV and a good quality Bluray sound system, I could now get one of the game consoles.
As usual, it was 'boys shopping' - as I passed the 'Game' shop in Strand street, I popped in to find out prices and emerged 10 minutes later with an Xbox360 elite plus four games: Assassins's Creed, Aliens vs Predator, Gears of War 2 and, of course, Call of Duty-Modern Warfare 2.
For my online name, I originally wanted robiom (Robert Isle of Man) but that was taken so I extended the name and came up with robioman which can be read two ways: rob-isle of man or robio-man! :-)
I know I wont let people call me 'Rob' normally (especially my little darlin', Toby) but RobertIoM just sounded too staid for an online gaming culture!
Of course I have absolutely no idea how to play any of these and have so far (Saturday) only played COD Modern Warfare 2. The rest of the time has been spent stting up the wireless streaming to access my music and videos on my laptop and desktops. That's why I really wanted it - for the technology. Once I've mastered that, it probably wont get switched on again!
