I've finally decided to go to Shetland... even though I will miss Up Helly Aa due to a lack of accommodation in Lerwick at that time.
I'm booked on the ferry out of Aberdeen on 28th January for 2 weeks and plan to stay in Lerwick on the mainland, in Unst - the most northerly island of the UK, and at a couple of other places in Mid and South mainland.
I'm not sure how much Internet access there will be at the places I am staying so I doubt I'll be keeping any sort of blog (apart from my own diary) but we'll see.
I'll be visiting some friends in Aberdeen and Glasgow before returning to the Island.
