What a great place! Andy (Phillpotts) & I decided to visit this unique place called Foxfield.
It is famous for its brew pub http://www.princeofwalesfoxfield.co.uk/
Talking to one of the bar staff, he reckons there are only about 20 houses in the 'Hamlet' and to prove how small it is, the train station is a 'request stop'. Yes, the conductor needs to know so he can tell the driver to stop and if you are on the platform & want to board the train, you have to put your hand out!
When we chatted to the guard about this, he said "Make sure you do it in good time, otherwise you'll just see the end of the train as it passes by - then you'll just have to go back into the pub"
I replied "Oh well, every cloud has a silver lining". Not very original but pretty apt!
Brews its own beers and probably never the same brew twice - no 'regular' brew as such, just how it comes up. Great idea!
They even use food that is going out of date such as breakfast cereals - as they also run B&B (which I feel I have to take advantage of one time), when they have breakfast cereals nearing their 'use-by' date, they use them in a brew!
Downside is that some of them have been known to be around the 10-12% mark!!!
What a GREAT place!
