It's another bank holiday over here today - 'Tynwald day'. This is the Manx national day where the latest laws are read out in Manx and English at Tynwald Hill in St. Johns before being promulgated (signed!).
This year, we have the Princess Royal, Princess Anne presiding over the ceremony as the Queen's representative (The Queen herself was last here in 2003).
It's one of those days that isn't a bank holiday in the UK so everyone I know is going about their usual Monday business but over here there is a party atmosphere.
Despite that, some companies over here actually don't take the bank holiday as they recognise 'Senior day' (no, not a day specially for me but the last race day of TT when the 'Senior' race is run.
Some companies offer their staff either Senior day or Tynwald Day. Of course, some others (like bl**dy civil servants - servants to whom?. Don't get me started on them!) get both days!
Mind you, having said that, it doesn't really affect me. It doesn't feel anything special, just another day where I can get up and wander around, pleasing myself what I do (or don't do).
oops!. Am I going on about not having to go to work? Must be getting tiresome for some people now.. Oh well...... :-)
