There is a local campaign to tempt people to buy from local shops...
This is necessary if we don't want to lose all of the shops on the Island but there has to be a limit.
Paying a few pounds extra is one thing but with my latest two purchases, I could buy the goods from the UK for over £400-£500 cheaper which is simply a no-brainer, especially with the current 'economic downturn'.
We already pay much more for certain items such as milk (currently 53p/pint and no discount for 'bulk' e.g. 2 or 4 pint containers) and bread, prices of both being fixed by the Government.
Of course, there is the advantage of being able to return items easily should they be faulty but again, that has to be balanced against how much it would cost to return it to the UK mainland.
