As most of you reading this will know, I have absolutely no time for football..
but as the subject never seems to be too far away on Radio One 'News and Sport' (which should be renamed to 'News and Football' to be more accurate!), I thought I should make my own observations.
Already some people within the game have raised the issue of the number of 'foreign' players in the 'domestic' side of the game - something I have commented on for quite a while yet - how can a team be from 'Chelsea' (as an example) when most of the commentators on radio & TV can't even pronounce the names of the players!
Today, the subject of the manager has come up (again!) and a couple of people have been ruled out but the Football Association have 'approached ??'. An Italian.
Now, although I have already expressed my concern (such that it is!) over the state of the domestic game, am I the only one that could see a clash of interests with a manager from a foreign country when the England team are playing his country of birth?
I know people will cite the case of S Ericson from Sweden but surely he had the same issues, just might have been good at hiding them?
