On a trip to Portsmouth the other day, I couldn't believe what I was seeing....
And it took some time to figure out what was going on as this muppet 'rode' by on an electric sack-trolley, complete with safety (crash!) helmet. At first, ithought he was actually holding up the bin-wagon travelling behind him and hadn't noticed it was there but then it dawned on me...
He was a modern-day man with a red flag in front of a moving vehicle!
Great, 100+ years since the invention of the motor vehicle and god-knows how many years since the man with a red flag was abandoned, Portsmouth's Gun wharf management deem it necessary to set this up..
Is it a job creation scheme or is it a serious lapse of sensibility? How many people wouldn't be able to see a bloody great bin wagon, in bright green and yellow colours coming? Well, I guess some people wouldn't but that's why Darwin's theory was stated!
